Mrs. Iman Chehab is a highly devoted activist with a significant accumulated experience in different sectors in the humanitarian field. Her relief work over the past 20 years covered hundreds of families, providing them with essential needs in terms of clothing, food, medications, and schooling among others. Her credibility in this domain made her a reference for local and international benefactors, who would rely on her to distribute, on their behalf, considerable amounts of aid both monetary and in-kind to alleviate the difficult circumstances of needy families. All of her humanitarian initiatives led to the establishment of Tawazon NGO to institutionally respond to the communal needs.

In parallel, Mrs. Chehab has worked as a national expert with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in implementing the ISO 26000 standard for Sustainability and Social Responsibility. Her efforts have helped organizations in Lebanon implement the ISO 26000 standard. This has been achieved by executing materiality assessment, stakeholder’s prioritization and gap analysis, followed by an action plan. This experience enriched and broadened her human resources career providing her with tremendous insight and depth. All along, Mrs. Chehab continues to assist many businesses and organizations to integrate the ISO 26000 Social Responsibility and Sustainability in their operations. She advises them to enhance their relationship with the society and environment in which they operate. She also provides guidance to organizations on how to act in an ethical and transparent way that contributes to the health and welfare of the society.

Before her full dedication to the humanitarian cause, Mrs. Iman Chehab worked for an international company (Americana) for eighteen years as regional Director of Human Resources and Development in Lebanon and Syria.

Mrs. Chehab graduated from the Beirut Arab University with a BA in Accounting in 1992. She then earned a certificate in Strategic Human Resources Practices from Cornell University, New York, USA. She is a certified interviewer, from Development Dimensions International, London, UK and a certified National Expert in the Social Responsibility aspect of ISO 26000. She earned her MBA in Human Resources Management in 2018 and is currently pursuing a PhD.

Rajaa F. Chatila

Rajaa F. Chatila

Dr. Chatila is a clinical associate professor of medicine, and Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the Gilbert and Rosemarie Chagoury School of Medicine, Lebanese American University. She has been a faculty member in the department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology division at the Lebanese American University Medical Center-Rizk Hospital since 2009

Since her return from the United States where she did her post graduate medical training, Dr. Chatila has worked as a bridge between her well-off patients and personal connections and those patients who have limited financial means. She created a fund in her private clinic, where affluent patients and her friends would donate money to help the needy. With her own donations added, she was able to help numerous under-privileged patients to get the healthcare they deserved. Over the years, she assisted during the healthday initiative held annually by medical students, where they would go to various villages and towns to offer free consultations and checkups

In 2018, with the hospital CMO, she started the Act of Compassion initiative. In this initiative, hospital physicians were encouraged to donate the income of one clinic day per month to generate a fund to help underprivileged patients needing healthcare.

In 2016, in an attempt to inculcate the culture of recycling in the community, and aiming to achieve a ripple effect, Dr. Chatila with a group of friends got in touch with the recycling branch of Sukleen where each one of them worked in their own residential building and then expanded to their neighborhoods encouraging people to sort and recycle. She introduced that to the hospital where they also started to recycle paper and plastic.

Dr. Chatila graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BS-Biology in 1989 then earned a Medical Degree diploma in 1993. She then completed residency training in Internal Medicine in 1996, followed by fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT. USA which I completed in 1999. Since her return to Lebanon, she has worked in several medical centers. She is American Board certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. She has assisted and participated in numerous educational activities, public awareness campaigns, webinars and has attended numerous conferences as invited speaker and moderator of sessions. She has always been actively involved in teaching and assessment of medical students, residents and fellows and has been an advisor to several. In September of 2021, she acquired a master’s degree in medical education from Keele University.

Fadi El Hajjar

Fadi El Hajjar

Fadi is a senior political analyst, international conflict resolution expert and mediator.For the past 25 years, Mr. Hajjar has been providing advisory services to parties from various governmental and non-governmental organizations, academic institutions and the private sector. His work covered dozens of countries across America, Africa, Europe and Asia especially the MENA region.

He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Political Science from the American University of Beirut. His educational qualifications and professional achievements entitled him to earn the Fulbright scholarship to pursue graduate studies in the US focusing on Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding. Fadi also obtained mediation and negotiation training from Harvard University, UN System Staff College and the United States Institute of Peace.

El Hajjar assumed leadership and managerial roles to provide technical support in the areas of peacebuilding and conflict prevention. Recently he led the peace portfolio with UNDP in Sudan. In 2018, he developed the peacebuilding plan for different UN interventions in South Sudan. In 2014, Fadi co-designed and implemented the Cordaid flagship research project which focused on the role of civil society in economic development, peacebuilding and state building in different countries across the globe. Until October 2012, Fadi was with UNDP Lebanon as the Project Manager for the "Strengthening Civil Peace" project. Moreover, he contributed to national dialogue processes in fragile multi-party contexts such as Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. In the US, El Hajjar worked at the Carter Center on conflicts taking place in Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan during which he developed the memo of intervention which President Carter used to mediate in the Darfur crisis. He also worked on a project related to religion and conflict, particularly on the means of negotiating with fundamentalists.

El Hajjar has been a panel speaker and lecturer in many conferences in different countries. He also conducted workshops and was a facilitator in reputable organizations including the UN headquarters.

Being a senior political analyst and international conflict resolution expert, he has been hosted as a television and radio commentator. He also published several articles in reputable newspapers analyzing local, regional, and international political issues.

Based on his advisory capacity and expertise in political analysis, democratization, conflict resolution and development. His support has sought by reputable organizations in the MENA region and leading international organizations including the UN, Swiss Development Cooperation, FCO, USAID and the EU, conducting a variety of interventions in both Arabic and English.

Sana Shihab Mouabbi

Sana Shihab Mouabbi

Sana is a communication lead, graphic designer and illustrator.
Mrs. Mouabbi earned a BS in Graphic Design from the Business and Computer University in 2004. Later on in 2013, she got a Teaching Diploma from Art, Science and Technology University. She then earned a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication from the Lebanese University in 2017 in addition to several certificates in social media and Google UX design.

Her work experience included story writing and illustrating with Asala Publishing House. She has written and illustrated more than 15 different books and stories for children. She also worked as a Graphic Design and Photography instructor at AUL where she taught several courses over a five-year period. In addition, she works as a freelancer handling many projects in various domains including branding, corporate identity, graphic designing of books, magazines, TV ads, unipole, photography and visual directions.

Mrs. Mouabbi has wide knowledge in handmade arts including sewing, embroidery, beading, painting and resin art, producing valuable final artworks. This applicable knowledge in handmade arts could be of benefit to many women hoping to learn new vocational skills.

Over the past 20 years, she has participated in numerous philanthropic activities helping hundreds of families providing them with various needs. Activities included distribution of food, candies, gifts, medications, clothing and shoes. Her contributions to these projects over the years led to her joining the Tawazon Initiative for Development to allow her to continue her humanitarian efforts under a structured framework.

Dania Zaazaa El Hajj

Dania Zaazaa El Hajj

Mrs. Zaazaa Hajj graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor Degree of Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, and a diploma in Health Education in 1989. In 1990 she did a full year of internship at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). From 1991 till 1993, she worked as a quality assurance officer at AUBMC. From 1994 till 1995, she volunteered as a clinical nutritionist and completed an internship in Shropshire England. In 1995 she became a member of the British Dietetic Association.

From 1995 till 1997, worked in Wrexham Maelor District Hospital in Wales, Britain.

Upon her return to Lebanon, Mrs. Zaazaa Hajj went into private practice, working as a clinical dietitian and diabetes consultant. In 2003 joined Medtronic Middle East Diabetes and with them established the educational center for the MENA region on the use of insulin pumps for patients with diabetes.

In 2015, Mrs Zaazaa Hajj established My Oasis Catering which specialized in well packed lunch boxes for personal and corporate needs. This operation worked in liaison with My Bustani, the well-kept organic family farm run by Dania & Co.

Annually since 2015, she has consistently collaborated with Cedar’s organization to prepare and cater for 2000-2500 daily iftar meals that would be distributed to the poor during the month of Ramadan. Over the years, and on multiple occasions, she has volunteered her skills and time to prepare meals for the needy.
